All the valves are of laminated leather.  I was unable to obtain suitable leather of the specified thickness so as I already had some very supple leather from one of my wife's discarded handbags and a piece of lamb-skin obtained from a local organ builder, I glued these together using contact adhesive.  This glue remains flexible even when set, thus allowing the lamb-skin to to make very good contact with the valve seat.
